Mother of Pearl
The brightest nacre of all, with a rainbow play of light – in white, black (smoke), yellow and brown. For luxury shirts, suits and couture.

River Shell
White nacre with an iridescent shadow, polished on both sides or with natural skin on the back. Easy to dye – the versatile everyday shell.

Crafted by hand, finished with care
A shell button is not moulded – it is cut from a real shell, one blank at a time. That is why no two buttons are exactly alike.
Shell selection
Raw shells are sorted by species, thickness and the quality of their nacre.
Cutting blanks
Round blanks are drilled out of the shell wall; the thickest part gives the best buttons.
Shaping & holes
Each blank is turned to its profile – flat, rim or dome – and drilled with 2 or 4 holes.
Polishing
Long tumbling and polishing bring out the natural lustre of the nacre.
Finishing
Dyeing, laser engraving of your logo and a final quality check before packing.
